How can a Friday be this bad?

Filed under: School — Brent @ 7:54 pm

Well, I have to say, this was a pretty crappy Friday. It started out with me getting about 5 and a half hours of sleep. Next, I got a D on an English vocab test and I did pretty bad on a Euro test too. Next to that, I ended up being cut on the final round of cuts for pole-vaulting. I started out really good, one of the best there. But as the other’s jumping skills went up, mine got worse. I don’t even get itl I would stutter step at the line and jump off of both feet. Usually it would take me twenty minutes or so to get it back to normal each day.

So today, we started off right away with the first round of cuts. Then we jumped, but only got two jumps each, with the bar. That was the first time I have done it with the bar, usually I did it with a bungee and it’s actually a lot different. So then there were only four guys left and only one would make the team. So, we went for a pull-up contest to see which would stay. It was a long walk to the bar and it seemed like even longer, with myself considering if that would be it. So, they made me go first. I hate going first more than anything, you don’t know how many to do. I did eleven and got pretty tired, but I probably could have done more..

The next guy did thirteen and you could tell he gave all of his energy. The next two only got six each. So that was it for pole-vaulting. Back to sprinting now… yea. :|

Doing nothing is better than being busy doing nothing.

Man, schoolwork and studying is so monotonous, it is just a waste of time. Might as well call it nothing. I’ve been so busy doing nothing, I’m glad that the weekend is nearly upon us. I would much rather have a three-day weekend every weekend and take about a month off of summer vacation. Two days just doesn’t seem fair compared to the rest of the week. A 2:5 ratio, come on! Oh well I have to get back to being busy doing nothing instead of just doing nothing. Trust me, it makes sense… ;)

Another day, another…?

Filed under: School — Brent @ 8:42 pm

Well today was filled with the normal sorts of stuff. I guess I pulled a muscle in my groin…yes, my groin. And so it sort of hurts to walk and I was only 75% at track practice today. In English, we are reading a book called A Separate Peace by John Knowles. It is actually pretty interesting and I enjoy it so far. I found one part particularly funny when one of the main characters named Phineas (AKA Finny) creates a game off the top of his head named blitzball. The game resembles Smear the Queer in every way. It was almost as if that is where it came from in the first place. :D Also, my French teacher, Mme. Margolis, is still being as bitchy as usual. I really get sick of her sometimes. School is a never-ending cycle of work and putting up with crap. I guess that does get you ready for the real world.

Well, once again, time to put up with crap in doing my homework. Good Night.

It was cold…

Filed under: Weekend — Brent @ 8:33 pm

If you were to ask me how my weekend went, I’d pretty much just say, “It was cold…” But anyways, here’s a recap.

Saturday

I woke up at about nine to find myself still tired and aching from pole vaulting from the previous day. I forced myself onto my feet and walked slowly to the bathroom. Once there, I noticed I had a few bruises and blisters from the workout. Oh well, I guess the most fun sport has its downsides. I packed my things and started to play games. My mom told me that it would probably be best if my brothers did not go to the mountains with us; something about it being more peaceful and less moody(which is what they had been trying to tell her the whole time). By the time I got done playing Enemy Territory, it was already 10:45. I tried to call Mike to see if he could come, but no luck, he was still at lacrosse or breakfast. By the time he got back, I found out he couldn’t go, so I hurredly burned a music CD for the ride and hopped in the car. My mom kept telling me we were running late, but by the time we actually got to the base of the mountain, my cousin Marissa called. They had just left… :| Well there was about five inches of snow on the ground and our “yuppie-mobile” got stuck. Luckily, our neighbor Kevin, a teacher from Redlands, helped us out. It seems our chains were a bit too small for our tires, typically.. The Roges showed up with a friend, Alana, and the dogs. We played outside, sledded, ate dinner, and watched movies. Long day, I know.

Sunday

It snowed a lot Saturday night and there was like a foot or more snow on the ground outside. Jacob brought one of his new games with him called Fight Night Round Two. I found it to be a really fun game and it even came with Super Punchout. Basically, we didn’t really have the car power to go anywhere, so we were stuck there all day long. We built a snowman, and snowwoman, and sledded more. We also took advantage of the wireless internet and computers (Hannah also brought hers) and we were pretty much always online. We had another great dinner and I slept well with the electric blanket and footwarmer on. Rich and Marlyn are great people and I always enjoy hanging out with my cousins and even their friends. I listened to that CD pretty much all weekend and everyone seemed to like it at least a bit (even my mom). It was a dull, yet fun, day.

Today

I woke up around 8ish again and started playing NCAA Football 2005 with Jacob. I lost today, but still held a record of like 4-1-0. We also played Fight Night more and the more I did so, the more I liked the game. I’m thinking of buying soon. We packed up and cleaned the place up and started to leave. Luckily, my grandpa had a few extra pairs of chains in his garage, so we put on a pair that were just a tiny bit too big. Our neighbors Jeff and Kevin helped us to get out. Thank goodness we have awesome neighbors up there, even if we have some crappy ones (rather two crappy ones) down here. We ate at In-N-Out and got home around 4ish. Unfortunately, I missed track practice and had to go straight to cleaning up once I got home.

And here I am now, recapping and getting ready to do homework. Hopefully I can get some extra sleep in tonight. Higher elevations always seem to screw up sleeping hours. That’s why I think planes always make people sleepy; it’s not the jet-lag, it’s the darn elevation!! Well g’night.
