2006 has been a fairly interesting year for me. From the ups (bitchin’ new computer, getting lots of money) to the downs (losing a beloved rat, and losing a beloved relative) this is the first year in a while where I feel pretty good about it going out. I know I say this all the time but the future does hold a lot of promise for me, I only have to take that first step and seize it. I am going to try and make a serious effort to better myself in 2007. That is my single resolution. We will see how things go down.

As is customary (and, I like to think, expected), I shall now rattle off my favorite games of 2006, only this time without overly long and poorly written descriptions of why I enjoyed them so. Use your imaginations, dammit:

5. Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
4. New Super Mario Bros.
3. Kingdom Hearts 2
2. Guitar Hero 2
1. Gears of War

There you have it. I’d like to thank the little people, etc.

I have been informed there will be a massive gathering at Casa de los Lloyds tonight, to partake of the Metalocalypse Dethathon and to celebrate the year’s passing. There will be, dare I say, nuts. Delicious nuts.

So long, 2006. Thanks for rocking hard and not selling out to The Man.

So I now have an Xbox 360. My first bit of next-gen goodness and it’s pretty sweet. I picked up Gears of War with it and goddamn is that game pretty. Even on my terrible screen it looks gorgeous. Plays awesome too. Unfortunately the single-player is pretty short (beat it already lol) but I’ll be replaying it on harder difficulties and in co-op, plus there’s a whole ton of deathmatch to get in on. Come on over and see it sometime. Stand behind the velvet rope please.

The best part about the system? There’s a button on the (wireless) controller that turns the system on and off. Now I think it’s an inconvenience to spin 90 degrees to my left and push the power button on my VCR. Oh technology, you’ll be the death of us all.
